Richard S. Grip Ed.D. Dr.
Richard S. Grip, Executive Director of Statistical Forecasting LLC, possesses a
Doctorate in Educational Statistics and Measurement from Rutgers University in
New Jersey. His dissertation, Prediction of Public School Enrollments Using
the Modified Regression Technique, demonstrated an alternative method to the
Cohort Survival Ratio in
predicting school enrollments. Using
data from two school districts, predicted enrollments using the
Modified Regression Technique (MRT)
were 20-30% more accurate than the Cohort Survival Ratio for a period of up to
seven years into the future. As a recognized leader and expert in enrollment projections, Dr. Grip has presented papers on uses of enrollment projections in public school districts at the following conferences: American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Conference, Montreal, Canada (April 1999) American Association of School Administrators (AASA) Rural School Leaders Conference, Baltimore, Maryland (July, 2002) New Jersey Association of School Administrators (NJASA) Spring Conference, Atlantic City, New Jersey (May 1999, May 2000, May 2001, and May 2002) New Jersey School Board Convention, Atlantic City, New Jersey (October 2000)
Awards In May 1999, the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education awarded Dr. Grip the Outstanding Dissertation Award for the best dissertation of 1998.

Miscellaneous In addition to his work on school demography, Dr. Grip has been instrumental in evaluating educational programs for both school districts and universities using both qualitative methods and quantitative methods. Dr. Grip has also taught at Rutgers University in New Brunswick (NJ) on courses related to assessment and psychometric theory.
